Website Owners Panic Over Google’s June/July 2021 Updates

Whenever Google do a core update it’s panic time for many website owners and marketing companies? Why, because they know that they have been using questionable techniques for traffic and link building and think maybe this time around Google will penalise them.

However if you use white hat marketing techniques then you have nothing to worry about, yes when core update are released fluctuations in the rankings do occur but these are normal and if your website drops into oblivion then you where doing something dodgy and rolling the dice every time there was an update.

Marketing Companies taking Advantage

Every time there’s a core update announced by Google the rogue marking companies crawl out of the woodwork and contact website owners to tell them that their website is going to be effected by the changes unless something is done, by them, and for a fee of course.

These fear campaigns do persuade a lot of naive people and a couple of years ago yell.com ran a famous one and got thousand of customers to transfer over there web hosting and have a new poor quality website built by yell using a fear campaign regarding the new ‘not secure’ message placed on browser.

They rang customers who didn’t have, want or need SSL and told then that their website WAS going to be removed from google for not being secure.

What should you do if you own a website?

Nothing… If you have a company website that has never been involved in black hat marketing techniques then you have nothing to worry about. Scammers WILL ring and email you telling you that your site WILL be affected, some still using the hilarious “We are from Google” line but it won’t.

What to really expect.

Like with any Google algorithm update, your rankings may go up, may go down or may remain stable. But if you are impacted by the June 2021 core update, it is possible that the impact can reverse itself with the July 2021 core update. Google has told us typically most sites won’t notice the updates but SEOs who manage a lot of sites will likely see a lot of changes in the Google search results. Also, because of the two-part nature of this release, it’s possible that some content and sites might see changes in June 2021 that reverse in July 2021.

The announcement. Here is Google’s tweet announcing it, where Google said “later today, we are releasing a broad core update, as we do several times per year. It is called the June 2021 Core Update..”
